Mission
We will lead the unified national effort to secure America. We will prevent and deter terrorist attacks and protect against and respond to threats and hazards to the nation. We will ensure safe and secure borders, welcome lawful immigrants and visitors, and promote the free-flow of commerce.
Role in Space-Based PNT

Operates the master control stations and the maritime component of the Nationwide Differential GPS System (NDGPS).
- Provides user support to the civilian GPS community through the Coast Guard Navigation Center (NAVCEN) and the Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC).
- Develops strategies and plans for identifying space-based PNT requirements for homeland security purposes, coordinating capabilities to identify, locate, and attribute interference in U.S. that affects GPS and its augmentations, developing a central repository and database for reports of domestic and international interference to civil use of GPS and its augmentations, and notifying Departments and Agencies of domestic and international interference with space-based PNT services.
- Promotes the use of GPS by federal, state, local, tribal, and private sectors responsible for public safety and emergency response.
- Applies space-based PNT to a broad variety of governmental activities, including: emergency planning and response; border protection; law enforcement; and Coast Guard vessel operations.
