Legislative Update on LORAN-C

We updated our page on LORAN-C legislation. In May 2010, the Senate passed a new version of the Coast Guard authorization bill that removes all reference to LORAN. Their previous version (from Oct 2009) called for upgrading LORAN-C to eLORAN, but in the intervening months, LORAN-C was shut down.

Senate Committee Marks for Civil GPS, WAAS, and NDGPS

The Senate Appropriations Committee has finally released its report to accompany S. 3644, the Transportation-HUD bill they passed last week. We have updated the funding table with the funding levels for Civil GPS, WAAS, and NDGPS. Funding for LAAS (GBAS) is unclear because it is part of a larger account called NextGen Flexible Terminals and Airports that received a $16 million cut.
